We Wear the Mask

"WE wear the mask that grins and lies,
It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes,—
This debt we pay to human guile;
With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,
And mouth with myriad subtleties.
Why should the world be over-wise,
In counting all our tears and sighs? "
How does the poet use literary devices? Why might he/she use these devices?
I think the poet wrote this because he knows what it is like to hide something and have to act like there is nothing wrong with him. He also may have wrote this because he knows that people all the time are trying to cover something up by acting different then they normally do trying to act normal. The feelings that the poet is trying to convey is a sad feeling. I think he succeeded because it makes you think of all the times you have done it trying to hide their feelings from the world. In the Poem the poet used literary devices like, bleeding hearts and a mouth with myriad subtletics. He used these devices to symbolize the ultimate meaning of the poem, and feelings.

Making a Facebook Profile, made easy!!

A Special Event

 

A special event that I can last think of was PSP Mao (Paintball sports promotions, Mid-Atlantic Open). I was watching the professional team battle it out on a three day long tourney that could be anyone’s win. During the event it was raining and pouring on the first day making it very different for anyone to win. In the beginning the team name “Damage” was unstoppable, they beat every team in the first two days no problem, even beating a team named “Dynasty” which was one of the best teams in the world ever.

Everyone had predicted that Damage would have won, but sadly they did not just missing the finals by one point. They had been eliminated by a new and upcoming team called “Houston Heat”, who went on to win the tournament for the first time this year beating a team called “infamous” who won the last two tournaments before this event. It was a very intense battle between the two teams but the dominate team won!

The Childrens Story

I think that the story was very odd. When it started it was like it was in the middle of the story and I did not know what was going on! I was in the view of the first teacher and wondering why she and the students were scaried, and why the kid "Johnny" was mad at the door. I did not know what was going on!! Then a young woman walked in and told the teacher to go to the office. The young woman was very odd because she let and told the students to do stuff that they  normally would not do, which through the students off. She was being very nice to them and the students did not know why. The new teacher (young woman) told the students that there was no god and to do what the leader was telling them to. When I saw that the first thing that i had said in my mind was that she was a nazis!! I have to go now so thats all!!

Being yourself!!

I think what makes everyone different is that everyone has something that they like to do that is different. Some people like to play baseball, soccer, football, hockey, etc. I like to play paintball and soccer. I have met many people in playing paintball and learned a lot about myself though playing paintball. I have tried to conform to what the world thinks is normal but I have learned not to follow that road, because it is better just to be myself and happy then to be normal and hate my life. I have heard someone say before that is “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” After I read that I started to think about myself and if I would be happy with be just like the rest of the world and try and be normal or to go off of the normal trail of life and have an exciting life full of joy and just be myself not caring what others thought of me. I know that I will and have lost some of my so called friends by being myself but if they don’t like me like that then I can always find people that like me for being me and not someone else. So I would have to say that NO ONE is the same and there will be all types of people but you just need to be yourself to be happy, and don’t try to be anyone else that you are not.
